In Cold Blood is set in a tiny little hamlet called Wasps Nest. It's so small, in fact, that when we moved to Lincolnshire, we had walked through it a few times before we even realised it had a name. And when I learned the name, I just knew it had to be a location for a book.
Here's some images from a recent research trip to Wasps Nest. Hopefully you'll see how rural the hamlet is, and how devoid of life Lincolnshire can be, on the surface at least. But when you look closely through the trees, you'll see houses tucked away. For a crime writer, the scenes spark my imagination into gear, and make me wonder what could happen in a place like Wasps Nest, who could live there, and what secrets lie hidden within the tiny community.
